Leak-Proof CUT is a premium, two component, low toxicity polyurethane water cut-off chemical grout which forms a very durable closed cell foam. This cured material is also flexible to withstand future joint movement without losing adhesion to the surface. CUT refers to the products’ ability to quickly “cut” off the moderate flow of water through leaking cracks and joints. This product can also be used to fill voids. Visit http://www.leakproofonline.com to see the generally equivalent competitor products chart. Leak-Proof CUT is a 100% solids, two-part polyurethane injection grout or chemical grout. It will cut-off water flows by displacing the water and producing a tough foam with excellent adhesion to wet or dry concrete. Leak-Proof CUT 2C Rigid Foam Polyurethane Grout MAIN APPLICATIONS- Leaks in new tunnel construction.
- Cracks in concrete basements.
- Maintenance of transportation subways.
- Cracks in concrete pools and tanks.
- Cracks in water dams and reservoirs.
- Leaks in concrete pipes.
- Under Slab void filling.
IMPORTANT PERFORMANCE BENEFITS- Simple 1:1 by volume mix ratio.
- Can be used with high pressure pumps (up to 2500 psi), grease gun with a flexible whip line using the 3/8" Plastic Hammer-In Packers or with low pressure pots or convenient side by side cartridges (below 100 psi).
- Components after mixing will provide up to 60 minutes “pot life” in the absence of water or moisture. This allows single component pumps to be utilized.
- Initial low viscosity ensures excellent travel in cracks.
- Dense closed cell foam provides outstanding water resistance.
- Adhesion to wet concrete creates a durable water stop even under hydraulic pressure.
- Flexible foam allows + 100% compression/elongation.
- Rapid foam development cuts off water flow. Volume of foam may be 3-25 times the original liquid volume depending on crack dimensions. The wider the crack the greater the foam volume.
TECHNICAL DATADENSITY OF MIXED MATERIAL 1·10 - 1·15 VISCOSITY OF MIXED MATERIAL (25°C) 450-550 cps COLOUR NATURAL AMBER CLEAR MIXING RATIO A:B 1 to 1 by volume POT LIFE after mixing 30-60 minutes* FOAM DEVELOPMENT in contact with water 30 seconds ADHESION TO WET CONCRETE – Tensile Pull 50 psi (Note: fails in foam layer) ELONGATION/COMPRESSION 100% FOAM VOLUME 3-25 times orig. liquid (fine cracks – 3 volumes:wide gaps – up to 25 volumes) *The presence of moisture/humidity will reduce the pot life. When displacing water the foam development is rapid. Leak-Proof CUT will continue to increase adhesion to the concrete for several hours after grouting. PACKAGING2.5 US Gallons `A’ (9.45 litres) & 2.5 US Gallons `B’ (9.45 litres) each in metal cans with resealable pouring spout. 10 FL.OZS A (0.3 litres) 10 FL.OZS B (0.3 litres) in side by side dispensing cartridges complete with ¼” – 24 element mix tube. METHOD OF USE: High Pressure Grouting Use Leak-Proof HD Packers (3/8's Plastic Hammer-In Ports) in 3/8" holes.Drill the holes at a 45o angle to intersect the crack approximately 4" below the concrete surface for an 8 inch thick wall. These holes should be drilled alternately on opposite sides of the crack allowing a 6" distance between them. This should ensure intersection of the crack. Alternatively, the holes can be drilled straight into the crack to a depth 2/3 the thickness of the wall, spaced every 3 inches for very tight cracks. (This method allows for higher injection pressures without damage to the concrete through blowouts.) Completely flush out the drill holes with clean water. We suggest a pump-up garden type sprayer with a ¼” plastic airline hose secured onto the wand. Coat the packer or port with the chemical grout prior to insertion into the cleanly water flushed drill hole for a superior seal. After fitting injection ports or packers, the drill holes should be flushed out using water delivered through a 1/4" hose from a pressure pot (low pressure) or a high-pressure pump or grease gun (high pressure).Be careful to check that each of the holes intersects or is drilled into the crack. Test with a water injection and drill additional holes if required. The crack should now be ready for PU (polyurethane) injection. Low Pressure GroutingFollow the same procedure as described for High Pressure, except to drill ½” holes drilled straight into the crack about 1/3 to 2/3 the depth of the crack. Now use the specially designed “Leak-Proof Port” and gently hammer in place with the large end going into the hole to create a good seal. Flush with water as described. Grouting Procedure Measure equal volumes (1:1) of A & B components of Leak-Proof CUT and ensure it is well mixed. Scrape the bottom and sides of the mixing container to pull all of the product into the mixed state. Mix what you can use within the pot life. For vertical cracks, start injection at the lowest point and observe the water being displaced with the Leak-Proof CUT. Proceed from one location to the next until the crack is fully injected. Excess foam appearing at the surface can be shaved smooth after 30 minutes using a sharp utility knife. On commercial projects where the surface will need to be “dressed” to remove the ports and excess grout drippings, chop off the ports using a carpenter chisel and fill the divot with “Heavy Epoxy Paste” or Non-Shrink Grout. One set, grind the residual resin off the surface to get the desired effect.
Special Note: Johnson Group Online has discovered and used a special compound on vehicle tunnel and bridge abutment walls prior to injection that allows for pressure washing off the excess drippings. This can save a contractor thousands of dollars by eliminating the grinding process. Following repeated cleaning of the equipment flush clear of solvent and fill the lines with Leak-Proof PUMP CLEANER to prevent moist air from contaminating the lines. Cured material should be mechanically removed. HEALTH & SAFETY Leak-Proof CUT utilizes a M.D.I. aliphatic isocyanate which is the lowest toxicity within this generic group of designated chemicals. The MSDS information must be noted prior to use.Always wear protective equipment when working with grouts and their additives. Wear approved safety glasses or goggles. A face shield is advisable when working with materials under pressure. Two component systems are capable of producing injury to, or destruction of, skin and eye tissues. Precautions must be taken to prevent prolonged or repeated skin contact and it is essential to protect the eyes from splashes.Repeated skin contact can also cause sensitization. Protective clothing, rubber gloves and chemical goggles should be worn when working with these products. A facemask with organic cartridge and a particulate filter is usually adequate. Rubber gloves will prevent adhesion of product to hands. Keep spectators back. It is advisable to always keep one hand on the coupler while injecting to minimize random spraying if the coupler pops off or there is a blowout. For potable water vessels the cured exposed surface of Leak-Proof CUT should be flushed with water prior to putting the vessel into service to fully cure the grout. The cured material is non-toxic and the above procedure is an extra, yet necessary precaution with any polyurethane grout. SHELF LIFE & STORAGE Leak-Proof CUT in unopened cans has a shelf life of 12 months. Once the cans are opened, this will be reduced as a result of moist air entering the can. Before using an opened can make sure the ‘A’ and ‘B’ components are liquid and suitable for use. Leak-Proof CUT should be stored in a heated and dry location and prevented from freezing.
