(4)x4 Litre Units = 16L General Product Description "Heavy Epoxy Paste - Regular Set" is a heavy consistency two component epoxy for bonding to cured concrete, other construction materials such as steel, concrete. Use The heavy consistency makes this bonder suitable for vertical and overhead applications. It is used to grout bolts and rebars as well as installing expansion joints. It is the preferred bonder for sealing cracks and placing ports and plastic tees prior to injection. For specific applications consult Johnson Group Online. Surface Preparation This is the single most important step. Best results will be achieved by following the suggested recommendations. Concrete Surfaces a) Must be cleaned free of old existing coatings. New concrete should cure to at least 80% of the design strength before applying. Dry surfaces provide best results. However, product will adhere to clean, damp surfaces. b) Remove all laitance, oil, grease, curing compounds or other contaminants from the working surfaces. Sandblasting or mechanical abrading is preferred. c) Surfaces must be clean and sound. d) Steel Surfaces - Surfaces should be sandblasted to white metal immediately before the application of the bonder.
Mixing & Application Supplied as a two-package system. Open Component "A" and agitate resin until evenly blended. Open Component "B" and pour entire contents into Component "A" container. Agitate with low speed power mixer (200-300 rpm) until one even colour develops. The mixed material can be mixed with an equal volume of Barnes #32 or #51 Silica Sand to achieve easier troweling, or when grouting bolts."Heavy Epoxy Paste - Regular Set" can be applied by power or hand operated caulking gun, by trowel or by hand using rubber gloves. Putty knives can be used to spread the bead applied with caulking gun. Clean Up Use appropriate "Cleaning Solvent". CAUTION - Solvent is flammable so there must be no open lights, flames, sparking motors or pilot lights in the vicinity. Smoking near the solvent is to be forbidden. All equipment must be cleaned immediately after use. Safety and Toxicity Two-component epoxy systems are capable of producing severe injury to, or destruction of, skin and eye tissues. They are classified as corrosive for shipping purposes. Precautions must be taken to prevent prolonged or repeated skin contact and it is essential to protect the eyes from splashes. Protective clothing, rubber gloves and chemical goggles should be worn when working with these products. Some people become sensitized when working with epoxy resin systems. The sensitization may appear in the form of skin or respiratory reactions. Avoid breathing vapours, particularly if these products are used in a confined area. Face mask with respirator #1224 is usually adequate. Air supplied mask is suitable for use in confined areas. Storage Store in heated area and on pallets. Do not allow product to freeze. Shelf life in unopened containers is two years. Packaging Packaged in 4 litre units, 4 units to a carton. Each container is clearly marked with product name, component designation ("A" or "B"), manufacturer's name, batch number and ratio of component mixtures. Warranty Manufacturer WARRANTS that the product conforms to its chemical description and is reasonably fit for the purpose stated on its Technical Bulletin when used in accordance with its directions. Manufacturer makes NO OTHER WARRANTY either expressed or implied. Buyer assumes all risk in handling.
