(4) x 2 Litre Units = 8L General Product Description: This product is a heavy consistency two component epoxy which provides fast cure in a variety of situations. "Heavy Epoxy Paste - Rapid Set 60" is used for bonding to cured concrete, other construction materials such as steel, concrete. Use Because of the heavy consistency of "Heavy Epoxy Paste - Rapid Set 60", it can be used in vertical and overhead applications. The placing of ports and plastic tees prior to injection is also a major use for "Heavy Epoxy Paste - Rapid Set 60". It can also be used for fast-set Chemical Anchoring and as a fast set adhesive. Cure time is longer at colder temperatures. Minimum Application Temperature "Heavy Epoxy Paste - Rapid Set 60" can be applied down to 0C, however, material should be kept above 15C for ease of mixing and application. When using Ratio Paks these should be maintained at 20C to enable dispensing with a manual gun through a 1/2" mix tube. Moisture Sensitivity "Heavy Epoxy Paste - Rapid Set 60" should be applied to dry substrate only. On damp surfaces use "Heavy Epoxy Paste - Regular Set". Physical Testing (age 7 days @ 25C) Bond Strength (Pull Test) Breaks in Concrete Hang Test 6mm (1/4") verticle 6mm (1/4") overhead Surface Preparation This is the single most important step. Best results will be achieved by following the suggested recommendations. Concrete Surfaces a) Must be cleaned free of old existing coatings. New concrete should cure to at least 80% of the design strength before applying. Dry surfaces provide best results. However, product will adhere to clean, damp surfaces. b) Remove all laitance, oil, grease, curing compounds or other contaminants from the working surfaces. Sandblasting or mechanical abrading is preferred. c) Surfaces must be dry, clean and sound. d) Steel Surfaces - Surfaces should be sandblasted to white metal immediately before the application of the bonder and the bonder applied immediately before oxidation of the steel surface begins. Mixing & Application
"Heavy Epoxy Paste - Rapid Set 60" is a two-component system. Open Component "A" and stir the resin until evenly blended. Open Component "B", remove thin skin and repeat as above. Since the pot life of this material is short, mix only what can be applied in 5 mins. Remove equal amounts of "A" and "B" and blend them either in a vessel (for large amounts) or on a flat surface (for smaller amounts). Mix until one even color, free of streaks is achieved. Can be mixed one to one (1:1) by volume with clean dry silica sand to ease trowelling applications. "Heavy Epoxy Paste - Rapid Set 60" can be applied by trowel, or by hand (wearing rubber gloves). "Heavy Epoxy Paste - Rapid Set 60" is also available in side by side cartridges - 300 mls "A" plus 300 mls "B" to produce a 600 ml unit. Use a 1:1 gun and a 1/2" static mix tube to dispense a freshly mixed bead onto the crack surface, then a putty knife can be used to spread the bead over the crack. At or above 20C a manual gun can be used however a pneumatic gun is generally preferred for larger projects to achieve the greatest productivity. Clean Up Use appropriate "Cleaning Solvent". CAUTION - Solvent is flammable so there must be no open lights, flames, sparking motors or pilot lights in the vicinity. Smoking near the solvent is to be forbidden. All equipment must be cleaned immediately after use. Safety and Toxicity Two-component epoxy systems are capable of producing severe injury to, or destruction of, skin and eye tissues. They are classified as corrosive for shipping purposes. Precautions must be taken to prevent prolonged or repeated skin contact and it is essential to protect the eyes from splashes. Protective clothing, rubber gloves and chemical goggles should be worn when working with these products. Some people become sensitized when working with epoxy resin systems. The sensitization may appear in the form of skin or respiratory reactions. Avoid breathing vapours, particularly if these products are used in a confined area. Face mask with respirator #1224 is usually adequate. Air supplied mask is suitable for use in confined areas. Storage Store in heated area and on pallets. Do not allow product to freeze. Shelf life in unopened containers is two years.
